Metal-Free Restorations
We offer advanced dental restorations using a variety of materials, and each one has a unique set of advantages and disadvantages. Gold restorations are extremely durable and create the least amount of wear against opposing teeth, and porcelain bonded to metal restorations provide an improved appearance while maintaining long lasting results. However, for those patients who have sensitivity or allergies to metal and those who want to achieve a superior cosmetic appearance, metal-free, all-ceramic crowns may be the best option. Crafted from a single block of high-quality, durable ceramic, these restorations can be perfectly blended to match the natural color of patients’ smiles, and even after years of wear, metal-free crowns retain their picture-perfect appearance. For those patients with metal allergies, ceramic crowns are the ideal solution to avoid any potential adverse biological responses.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
In the past, we repaired tooth decay and minor damage using metal amalgam filling materials. While these fillings were durable and long lasting, they also lead to several cosmetic and restorative disadvantages. The dark color was immediately noticeable within the smile line, healthy dental structure had to be removed to hold the filling in place, and the expansion and contraction of the amalgam material could cause further damage to the tooth. Composite resin fillings offer a cosmetically and restoratively superior alternative to amalgams. This filling material is applied directly to damaged teeth in a putty-like consistency. The composite resin fills in even the smallest crevices and pits in teeth, and is molded in place to fully restore the tooth. Once the composite filling is in position, it’s hardened into place using a curing light.
Direct Bonding
Using the same composite filling material, we can also offer purely cosmetic correction for worn, stained, and unevenly spaced teeth. This simple, painless cosmetic procedure can be completed in a single visit, and in most cases, we don’t need to remove any healthy tooth structure to accommodate the direct bonding material. We simply apply the precisely shaded composite resin to the surfaces of teeth, shape it into position to cover stains, fill gaps between teeth, or reshape a tooth. Then, we use a curing light to harden the bonding material into place. Finally, we polish and seal the treated tooth to a naturally beautiful shine.
Invisalign® Clear Braces
Rather than using metallic brackets and wires placed on the surfaces of teeth to shift them into alignment, the Invisalign orthodontic system utilizes a series of clear, plastic alignment trays to gently shift teeth into position. Each set of aligners represents one step closer to the desired result. Over the course of about two weeks of daily wear, teeth are moved to this new position. Then, patients exchange their current aligners for the next set in the series. In about twelve months, patients can achieve their desired alignment. Throughout treatment, patients will visit our office about every six weeks, so we can ensure teeth are progressing as planned. The removable alignment trays make it possible for patients to maintain their regular diet and hygiene routines during orthodontic treatment.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are an excellent cosmetic dentistry solution for patients who want to correct a number of cosmetic flaws with one simple, minimally invasive solution. Porcelain veneers are custom crafted sheaths that fit over the fronts of teeth to conceal cosmetic flaws. The placement process is simple and straightforward. Patients visit our office where we’ll remove a small amount of surface enamel to prepare teeth to accommodate the veneers. Then, we’ll capture impressions to be used by dental labs to create the custom veneer. Finally, we place a temporary veneer to protect the prepared teeth. Once the custom veneer is received from the lab, patients return to our office to exchange the temporary for their custom porcelain veneer.
At-Home Teeth Whitening
Unlike store bought at-home whitening kits, our professional grade solutions allow patients to achieve a smile up to ten shades brighter in just a few weeks of treatment. Unlike the retail varieties, our take-home whitening kits use custom application trays that ensure the whitening gel remains on teeth and active. We are also able to offer a higher dosage of active whitening agents, carbamide or hydrogen peroxide, to ensure professional level results. At-home whitening is a good option for patients who want to brighten smiles gradually and without irritating sensitive teeth.
In-Practice Teeth Whitening
Patients who want to achieve a brighter smile quickly, should consider in-office teeth whitening. Before beginning whitening, we analyze the current shade of tooth color, so we can compare it to the results throughout treatment. Then, we cover the gums to protect them from potential damage. Next, we apply a high-dose of active whitening agent. After about fifteen minutes, we remove the gel and compare the current color of teeth to the initial shade. We repeat this process as necessary to achieve the desired level of whitening.
Gum Recontouring
For patients with a smile that appears “gummy” or teeth that look “stubby,” the best cosmetic solution may not have anything to do with their teeth. Instead, gum recontouring may be the ideal treatment option. This procedure is the careful removal of a precise amount of soft tissue to make teeth appear longer and more even. The procedure can be completed in just one visit, and for most patients, the result is a dramatically improved smile.
